Red, White and Blue Birthday Cards

It’s Memorial Day in the U.S. so I thought I would make some red and white and blue Birthday cards accented with lots of Stars and Stripes.

Happy Monday and Happy Memorial Day!

Hey Cupcake Gift Card Holders

Do you need a cute and quick way to give a gift card for an upcoming Birthday?  My project today is a fun way to dress up gift cards using elements from the Hey Cupcake Collection and resembles a gift bag with a tissue paper insert that holds the the gift card.
Here are some things you will need.  First, choose a sentiment/focal point for the front of the bag as well as the pocket for the gift card insert from the 3x4 cut aparts (Birthday Bash Paper). Then choose some pattern paper for the top and bottom of the “bag” as well as the tissue paper insert, a layering piece for your cut apart, and the tag. You will need some ribbon for your handles and twine to tie the tag to the handle.  I also used various stickers and sprinkles to embelish.

Cut your top and bottom bag pieces approximately 5 3/4” high and 5 1/2” wide.  Snip all 4 corners of your square pieces.  Score 3 sides (bottom, right and left) about 1/4” from the edges. Punch two holes at the top for your handles about an inch from either side.  I used a die cut with stitching detail, for my insert, but if you have mad cutting skills (unlike me) you could free hand cut the tissue paper element at the top of your 4 1/2” wide and 6 1/2” high insert piece.  Adhere your cut aparts to the front of the bag and insert.  Helpful hint: on my first attempt I used too much adhesive and without thinking even glued the top of my pocket closed which made it impossible to put the gift card inside.  Haha don’t do that! :)

Next, fold your sides and bottom flaps down and glue them together.  Thread your ribbon through the holes, tying small knots on the inside to secure the handles.  If you are adding a tag, use some doodle twine to tie your tag to the handle.  And all that’s left to do is add some sprinkles and stickers!

Here’s a final look at three finished gift card holders. I think the little critters are the cutest! Thanks for taking a look today, have a good one!

Party Time Card and Favor Boxes

Hello!  Today my project features the adorable new Doodlebug Design's Party Time collection!  I created two favor boxes and a pop up card using lots of patterned paper and die cut elements.  Let’s take a look...
First up is my Happy Birthday cupcake card.  This is the cut file I used on my Silhouette machine. I cut the base and inside layer of the card with dot/stripe petite prints in kraft and lily white and the cupcake layers using a few 12x12 pattern papers. I used Chit Chat sentiments as well as Odds and Ends die images to embellish my card. I love the candles, they’re perfect for the cupcakes!

I think this pop up monkey wearing a birthday hat is a fun surprise when you open the card!

Next up is my cupcake favor box.  This is the cut file I used (again on my Silhouette). I wanted the box to match my card so I decorated it similarly.

Lasty, I cut this favor box and decorated it using the 6x6 paper pad and one of the Doodlepop cupcakes.  I cut the center piece using a 1/4 inch rosette die and the new Doodlecuts nesting scallops die.  I tied a ribbon through the top to close the box and done!

I had a lot of fun putting this Birthday set together.  I absolutely love the variety of matching colors and patterned paper and elements Doodlebug collections offer to make layering so fun and easy!  That’s it for me, have a great day!

Birthday Cupcakes - Hey Cupcake Collection

The super cute, new Hey Cupcake collection is so fun!  And yummy birthday cupcakes are the inspiration for the project I’m sharing today.

We might not be having birthday parties right now, but my sweet neice is turning 16 this month so I wanted to make a treat for her and let her know we are thinking about her and haven’t forgotten her special day.

I used cut files from Lori Whitlock that can be found in the Silouhette online store, but you could easily subsitute any cupcake cut file or die cuts you may have. The 3 cupcake treat boxes pictured just above are all the same cut file, I just made them in different sizes and they are perfect for putting goodies inside. I used several 12 by 12 papers from the new collection for the top ‘frosting’ part, as well as petite prints for the 'cupcake wrapper' bottom portion of the boxes.

I baked up some real cupcakes too and found this box and cupcake paper wrap to decorate and put my cupcakes in. Then I used stickers and chit chat die pieces and doodle twine to embelish them.  How cute are those little birthday girls?!

The Hey Cupcake collection is so vibrant and fun!  It’s hard to say which cupcakes I like better, the real ones or the paper ones. I hope this sparked something in your imagination to get you busy crafting.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!
